Report of the trial ASPA Paediatric Perioperative Life Support Workshop, Singapore

The above workshop was trialed on December 6

There were 40 participants, from Hong Kong, Bhutan, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Sri Lanka and Singapore

It composed of equipping talks, interactive case discussions and skills stations Comments during wrap up concluded that:

  • It will comes under the auspices of ASPA
  • Name of the workshop will be ASPA PPLS/Paediatric Perioperative Life Support Course
  • Format of the workshop will include a course-book, equipping talks, interactive case discussions and skills stations
  • At the end of the workshop, accreditation will require a “test” e.g. MCQ

General concerns include sustainability and maintenance of standards of the workshop

  • An editorial group will review slides and write-ups to ensure consistency and standards
  • Slides will be pooled to form common resource for all trainers
  • Slides will be uploaded on the website, password protected for trainers
  • A “train the trainers” workshop will take place during ASPA Penang.
    It will also finalise components of the workshop, launch course-book and trial the MCQ
