Dear esteemed members of the Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists,
It is with great honour and a deep sense of responsibility that I address you today as the newly elected President of ASPA (Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists). I am humbled by the trust you have placed in me, and I am eager to serve and lead this esteemed society in the pursuit of our collective goals.
First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my predecessor for their exceptional leadership and dedication. They have left behind a strong and growing foundation upon which we shall continue to build and thrive. I am committed to upholding the high standards set by our predecessors and ensuring that ASPA remains at the forefront of pediatric anaesthesiology in the Asian region, enlarging every day, even beyond her boundaries.
As we embark on this new chapter together, I want to emphasise that our strength lies in our unity in diversity and collaboration. ASPA is a diverse community of professionals from various backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. It is this diversity that enriches our knowledge, broadens our perspectives, and enables us to make a significant impact on pediatric anaesthesia care, uniting us in our tiny patient’s safety.
My vision for ASPA is to foster an environment that promotes excellence, innovation, and continuous learning. We will strive to provide our members with valuable educational resources, cutting-edge research opportunities, and a platform for open dialogue and knowledge exchange. Our special interest groups founded recently on paediatric pain, cardiac, and research will continue their programs with the addition of newly assigned ones on Ultrasound in Children (POCUS and Regional), Sedation. Our Focused Learning Education Experience (FLEX) webinars and Perioperative Paediatric Life Support courses will also continue, either face-to-face or, if required, online. Together, we will support one another, inspire each other, and push the boundaries of what is possible in our field.
In the coming years, we will focus on strengthening our ties with regional and international organisations, forging partnerships, and collaborating on research initiatives. By pooling our resources, expertise, and experiences, we can drive advancements in pediatric anaesthesia care, improve patient outcomes, and leave a lasting impact on the healthcare landscape.
I encourage everyone to actively engage with ASPA, share your expertise, and contribute to our collective growth. Your participation, ideas, and enthusiasm are invaluable assets to our society. Increasing our membership will add to sharing experiences and learning from each other. Together, we can shape the future of pediatric anaesthesia in Asia and make a positive difference in the lives of countless young patients.
I extend my sincere appreciation to the entire ASPA community for your ongoing support and dedication. Our combined efforts have made ASPA the esteemed organisation it is today. Let us embark on this journey with passion, resilience, and a shared commitment to excellence.
Thank you for the privilege and honour of serving our very special society. I am excited about the incredible possibilities that lie ahead, and I am confident that together, we will elevate ASPA to new heights.
Warm regards,
Zehra Serpil Ustalar Ozgen
President
